Makami Engineering Group Limited is a progressive and growing engineering consulting firm headquartered in Sudbury, Ontario. We provide the bulk of our services to industrial clients in Northern Ontario and beyond. We are looking to expand our engineering capabilities by adding to our growing structural, mechanical and electrical departments. CIVIL STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING EIT

What this role entails:

Application of structural engineering knowledge to design, ensuring compliance with best practice, applicable codes, standards, and regulations

Incorporation of safety and risk analysis into structural design

Performing engineering calculations based on code requirements and first principles

Ability to work with instruction from more senior engineers, complete tasks with guidance

Write technical reports

Travel to various client sites, attend project meetings and attend field reviews

Participate in designing plans, specifications and details based on guidelines and with assistance from a senior engineer

What we're looking for in a candidate:

1-2 years of structural engineering design experience

Fluent in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing skills

Completed Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering

Experience with structural engineering in the energy, industrial, or mining sectors is an asset

Experience with structural inspection and assessment

Willing to learn in the following fields: mining, utilities, energy, heavy industry, commercial, steel, concrete structures and foundations, and their applicable codes

Working knowledge of the Microsoft suite of programs

Familiarity with design software such as STAAD and AutoCAD

Familiarity with Canadian structural codes and standards

Must be able to attend industrial sites and observe all applicable safety regulations

Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to suitable transportation

Must possess a team player attitude and be able to work in project team environment

Must be able to work on multiple projects at any given time and manage workload according to resources available, deadlines, etc.
