About the Role

Reports to: Director of Operations & PMO
Exergy is seeking a Civil Structural Engineer in Calgary Alberta with 8-15 years of practical experience in structural engineering to support all project activities including design, analysis, and construction. This individual will play a key role in ensuring that the safety and code compliances are met. This is a full-time employment opportunity, with the option for a contractor-based position if preferred.
Key Responsibilities

Perform structural design and analysis calculations using governing codes and industry standards, engineering formulas and experience
Prepare engineering deliverables including detailed drawings, specifications, and calculations.
Ability to create client specific technical scope documents, perform technical evaluations and complete contract documents
Coordinate work with other disciplines such as mechanical, electrical etc.
Coordinate civil/structural drafting with the drafting department
Produce sketches to be incorporated in models/designs by designers/drafters
Mentor technicians, technologists and other engineers
Support the development of construction work schedules
Provide construction support including review shop drawings, respond to RFIs etc.
Develop engineering and construction cost estimates for projects within the department
May serve as Project Engineer and a designated client contact on smaller, less complex projects
Organize, draft, and coordinate technical documents
Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards
Prepare reports, including those about technical survey and field data on the topographic (natural land features) and hydrological (natural water features) before development
Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness
Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents/concerns
Assist with business development and client relationships

Qualifications
------------------
Requirements:
Minimum 8 - 15 years' experience with structural design and construction of
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field
4+ years of design experience in EPC or consulting industry preferred
Field experience considered an asset
P. Eng status in good standing with APEGA
Good understanding of applicable industry codes and standard practices
Ability to establish and maintain positive client and project team relationships
Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced work environment with multiple priorities and deadlines
Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written
Responsible for adhering to all health and safety policies and guidelines
