The Role
This key leadership role has an overall responsibility for directing the development of the CSA engineering and design team. The manager will plan, schedule and assign/supervise or conduct broad and/or technically complex engineering assignments requiring judgment, independent evaluation, selection and significant adaptation and deviation from standard techniques and procedures.

Final salary will be based on relevant and applicable experience, education, and the specific skill set and qualifications required for the role.

Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
  • Motivate, guide and support department staff
  • Develop CSA capabilities and maintain a high-quality company brand through training and recruiting activities
  • Lead a team spanning 4 Canadian offices, while managing complex initiatives and projects
  • Onboard and guide staff on policies, procedures, best practices, codes and standards
  • Coordinate with project discipline leads during project kick offs to ensure roles and responsibilities are clear as well as to ensure alignment on consistent processes
  • Assist discipline leads with establishing and maintaining project plans, scope, schedules and budgets.
  • Supporting the execution of project deliverables where required, including creation or review of drawings, specifications, calculations or other project activities.
  • Conduct quarterly department meetings to continuously engage the team. Meetings will provide updates on active projects, prospects, technical topics and employee recognition. Meeting minutes to be distributed to senior management.
  • Develop and maintain communication channels with clients, stake holders, and internal personnel to ensure that work flows smoothly as well as providing first class engineering services
  • Develop, plan, evaluate and recommend solutions for difficult problems including liaising and interfacing with other department managers and with project managers
  • Evaluate technical competence of team members and support employee development and training needs
  • Conduct performance reviews, salary reviews, timesheet reviews and succession plans for the team
  • Work with Proposal teams, Technical SMEs and the Engineering Manager to provide inputs to proposal submissions. Key inputs include: CSA estimate, execution plan, value added ideas, assumptions and exclusions
