Position Overview:

Reporting directly to the Civil Engineering Lead in the Courtenay office, the successful Civil or Survey Engineering Technologist will be involved in resource and municipal engineering projects and will possess a strong background working with a motivated and dynamic team of professionals. Successful applicants will participate in the provision of engineering services from proposal stage through planning, design, construction and commissioning of projects. Applicants should note that field work is an integral part of this position and they should be prepared to work in adverse environments and conditions.

Major Job Functions:

• Preparing engineering drawings
• Coordinating project drawings and reports
• Surveying (total station and GPS)
• Construction Layout
• Site and construction inspections
• Project management and contract administration

• Flexibility, organizational and time management skills
• Excellent attention to detail, work accuracy/numeracy and quality orientated
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships across all levels of the business
• Motivated and dynamic self-starter
• Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines
• Effective problem-solver with strong analytical skills
• A committed and positive attitude along with an obvious customer focus and the ability to build a positive rapport with customers

• Diploma in Civil or Survey Engineering Technology or equivalent experience
• Position can vary from new graduate to senior level experience. Tasks will be assigned according to level of experience
• Proficient in the use of AutoCAD or other drafting software
