Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Litigation Lawyer to join our law firm. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive legal expertise across various practice areas, including immigration law, landlord-tenant law, real estate law, corporate commercial laws. This role offers an exciting opportunity to handle complex litigation cases, conduct in-depth legal research, and provide strategic counsel to clients. The Litigation Lawyer will be responsible for managing all phases of litigation from inception through resolution, ensuring adherence to legal standards and client objectives.

Responsibilities

Manage a diverse caseload involving litigation in multiple practice areas such as estate planning, immigration law, real estate, contracts and others. Conduct thorough legal research using LexisNexis and CanLii to support case strategies and legal arguments. Draft and review legal documents including pleadings, motions, briefs, contracts, and other litigation-related paperwork with precision and clarity. Develop case strategies through negotiation and advocacy to achieve favourable outcomes for clients. Represent clients in court proceedings, mediations, arbitrations, and settlement negotiations with professionalism and confidence. Collaborate with colleagues within the law office to ensure comprehensive case management and adherence to deadlines. Stay current on relevant laws and regulations affecting various practice areas by continuous research and professional development. Utilize legal administrative experience to manage case files efficiently and maintain accurate records of case activities. Engage in client consultations to understand their needs and communicate complex legal concepts effectively.

Qualifications

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Admission to the Ontario bar and in good standing. Proven experience practicing litigation across multiple legal disciplines including estate planning, immigration law, landlord-tenant law, corporate, contract, real estate or related fields. Strong research skills with proficiency in LexisNexis and CanLii platforms. Excellent writing skills with the ability to draft clear and persuasive legal documents. Demonstrated negotiation skills with a track record of successful case resolutions. Legal drafting expertise combined with meticulous attention to detail. Chair motions and attend case conferences, pre?trials and mediations; assist with trials and arbitrations as needed. Oversee discovery: discovery plans, undertakings/refusals tracking, productions, and examination preparation. Experience working within a busy law office environment with effective organizational skills. Ability to handle complex cases independently while collaborating effectively as part of a team.
