Civil Estimator

Location: Burnaby, British Columbia

Our client is a respected civil construction company based in Burnaby, specializing in a wide range of construction projects. They are dedicated to delivering accurate and competitive cost estimates that support their clients\' needs, and they are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Civil Estimator to join their team.

As the Civil Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for civil construction projects. You will work closely with the project management team to assess project requirements, review project plans, and develop cost estimates. Your responsibilities will encompass a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:

Key Responsibilities:

Project Assessment: Review project plans, specifications, and drawings to understand the scope and requirements of each project.

Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates, including materials, labor, equipment, subcontractor costs, and other project-related expenses.

Bid Preparation: Create comprehensive bid proposals that meet client requirements and submit them within specified timeframes.

Value Engineering: Seek cost-effective solutions and alternative methods to enhance project profitability while maintaining quality standards.

Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination: Solicit and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors, negotiate pricing and terms, and build relationships with key partners.

Budget Management: Collaborate with the project management team to compare estimated costs to actual costs and make necessary adjustments as projects progress.

Client Communication: Maintain open communication with clients, address questions or concerns related to the estimates or proposals, and provide regular updates on project budgets.

Market Research: Stay updated on industry trends, pricing, and market conditions to ensure competitive and accurate estimates.

Risk Assessment: Identify potential project risks and provide input on risk management strategies.

Documentation: Maintain records of all estimates and proposals, ensuring accuracy and consistency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor\'s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience as an estimator in the civil construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of civil construction processes, methods, and materials.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and the MS Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with local construction regulations and permits in Burnaby and British Columbia.
