Job Description

Our client, a leading civil construction and infrastructure contractor, is seeking an Estimator / Project Coordinator with hands-on experience in watermain, sewer, and underground utility construction.
This role combines technical estimating, project planning, and field coordination, supporting municipal and private infrastructure projects from tender through to completion.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in civil estimating, underground utilities, and project coordination, with a focus on accuracy, organization, and team collaboration.

Key ResponsibilitiesEstimating & Pre-Construction

Review tender drawings, specifications, and addenda for scope and risk assessment. Prepare detailed cost estimates for watermain, storm, and sanitary sewer projects, including materials, labour, and equipment. Perform quantity take-offs for pipe, fittings, maintenance holes, and restorations. Obtain and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotations for pricing accuracy. Participate in bid reviews and support tender submissions with the estimating team.
Project Coordination

Support the Project Manager in project planning, scheduling, and procurement. Coordinate with site supervisors, subcontractors, and municipal inspectors. Track project progress, material deliveries, and field quantities. Prepare and review RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and change orders. Monitor and update project cost reports and assist with progress billing. Ensure all work complies with contract specifications, safety standards, and municipal requirements.
Documentation & Communication

Maintain organized project files, drawings, and correspondence. Liaise with clients, consultants, and utility companies to resolve design or site issues. Support QA/QC efforts -- including pressure testing, CCTV, and compaction reports. Prepare closeout documentation and as-built drawings as required.
Qualifications & Experience

Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. 3-7 years of experience in watermain, sewer, or underground infrastructure projects. Solid understanding of civil construction methods, municipal standards (OPSS/OPSD), and traffic control (Book 7). Proficient in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, MS Project, and Excel; experience with Civil 3D is an asset. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Valid Ontario G driver's license and willingness to travel locally to project sites.
Preferred Assets

Experience with municipal infrastructure, subdivision servicing, or utility relocations. Familiarity with estimating software (HCSS HeavyBid, Bid2Win, or similar). Knowledge of EASR / MECP permitting processes. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, profiles, and cross-sections. Health and Safety training (Confined Space, Working at Heights, WHMIS).

Pay: $60,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
