Position Details: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: Starting salary at $65,100, based on a 35-hour work week.
Location: Flexible location within Saskatchewan, preference for Regina area
Closing Deadline: September 13, 2023 (11:59PM EDT)

DUC is seeking to expand its technical capacity and will thus be open to recruiting a civil engineer with knowledge and experience in hydrology, open channel hydraulics, municipal works, geotechnical engineering, or structural engineering (with a slight preference to hydrology and hydraulics. Salary for this position will commensurate with each individual\'s education and/or experience as it relates to the position.

What You Will Do

You will perform a full range of specialized technical services across the country, including but not limited to:

  • Leading the design, contract management, and construction management for wetland conservation infrastructure, including earthworks and water conveyance structures.
  • Performing field work, including construction inspections, as well as leading provincial dam safety efforts and contributing to dam safety reviews.
  • Contributing to team resource management, long-range planning, and budgeting with the provincial asset management team.
  • Supervising a team of engineering technologists, delivering inspections, surveys, plans and specifications to provincial and national standards.
Our ideal candidate will thrive in a team environment with minimal supervision and possess excellent team management, communication, and interpersonal skills. Project planning and implementation skills will be required to succeed in this position.

Requirements
  • EIT in progress or a Professional Engineer Designation.
  • Minimum 1 or 5 years of experience in hydrologic, hydraulic, municipal, geotechnical, or structural engineering, for EIT or P.Eng., respectively.
  • Membership (or eligibility for membership) with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS).
  • Ability to conduct field work, including remote dam safety inspections by truck or ATV, and long days of construction inspection.
  • Strong planning, reporting and project management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and supervision skills.
  • Valid class 5 driver\xe2\x80\x99s license.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel as required.
Assets
  • Experience with Office 365, AutoDesk, HEC, or GeoStudio.
  • The successful candidate will also have an affinity to the outdoors, conservation and the world of waterfowl.
  • Experience in the design of dams or earth berms (including water control structures), as well as dam safety, considered a strong asset.
  • Contract and construction management considered an asset.
