Job Description



Franklin Engineering Ltd. is seeking a Civil Engineering Technologist to join our growing team. This role is well suited to recent graduates from Civil Engineering Technology programs as well as candidates with early career experience. You'll work closely with senior staff on land development, onsite wastewater systems, and municipal infrastructure projects, with a strong focus on AutoCAD Civil 3D design.

The successful applicant will support a wide range of day-to-day project tasks, with a strong focus on AutoCAD Civil 3D design. Exposure to surveying or construction inspection is an asset, but not required.

Key Responsibilities



Prepare engineering drawings for land development and municipal infrastructure projects. Support Civil 3D design tasks under the guidance of senior staff. Conduct site inspections and field reviews (training provided). Assist with project coordination, contract administration, and construction documentation. Prepare reports, memos, field notes, and progress documentation. Review soil deposit and removal permit applications and monitor permitted works. Coordinate with utility agencies for permitting within public rights of way and easements. Support the development and updating of policies, bylaws, and technical standards as needed.

Qualifications



Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology (or graduating in 2025). Strong interest in civil design, land development, and municipal infrastructure. Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and technical documents. Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D (coursework acceptable; training provided). Proficiency with MS Office. Strong communication, organization, and time management skills. Class 5 BC Driver's License and access to a reliable personal vehicle. Experience with civil modelling software (water/storm/sanitary), surveying, or inspection is considered an asset but is not required.

Work Environment & Requirements



This position is based on-site at our Salmon Arm office. Standard office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. Fieldwork and site visits are required as part of project duties. A reliable personal vehicle is required for travel to and from project sites.

Compensation



Starting at $24/hour, with higher rates available for those with experience and demonstrated skills.
