Civil Engineering Technologist

Job Description


Responsibilities include the following:

  • Preparing project drawings and executing designs through the interpretation of design basis information provided by Engineers and Senior Designers for road reconstruction and linear infrastructure projects
  • Design will be expected to be undertaken with the guidance of an Engineer
  • Resident inspection and surveys may be required from time to time
  • Delivering production work in accordance with company technical and operating procedures
  • Providing support to other members of the team
  • Assist in preparing quantity takeoffs and construction costing
  • Assist in preparing contract specifications
  • Providing support to the team with respect to a range of activities including both technical and non-technical tasks related to engineering design and construction as well as project management, marketing, and business development
  • Delivering projects on budget and within identified schedules
  • Engaging in a collaborative work environment with your team, as well as other disciplines and offices
  • Ensure adherence to established policies and procedures within a COR certified environment and the duties specified under the Occupational Health & Safety Act
Job Requirements
  • Diploma in Engineering Technology from an accredited post-secondary institution
  • Progressive civil design experience in Ontario, is an asset
  • Experience in a multi-discipline design environment is an asset
  • Proficiency in the use of Civil 3D, MicroStation, and the latest version of AutoCAD
  • Familiarity with applicable local design codes, OTM manuals and TAC design Manual is an asset
  • Experience with technical specification development and report writing is an asset
  • Experience with spreadsheets and related computer software for process design and equipment sizing
  • Experience working for a consulting engineering firm is an asset
  • Experience with coordinating production from multiple team members is an asset
  • Experience with spreadsheets and related computer software for civil design
  • Working knowledge of MS Office suite software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills & attention to detail
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Committed team player and ability to work independently
  • Ability to travel within Ontario
