We are currently searching for a Civil Drafting Technologist in our Calgary office\xe2\x80\x99s Industrial Infrastructure Group.
The successful candidate will work with our team of engineers and technologists on civil infrastructure projects for a variety of public and private sector clients. Projects include landfills and containment ponds, district energy systems, water distribution systems, stormwater management systems, wastewater collection systems, and site servicing projects.
As the ideal candidate, you have strong design and drafting skills, are highly organized, an excellent communicator, and thrive in a dynamic work environment. Your abilities will be strengthened and grown through a range of projects focused on the delivery of infrastructure projects in western Canada. Your responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating within teams to deliver project objectives from concept to design to construction to as-built submissions.
- Working with the Engineer of Record, project engineers and civil engineering technologists to produce drawings and measure quantities for designs, technical reports, cost estimates, technical specifications and construction contract documents for industrial and municipal infrastructure projects.
- Design 3D alignments, surfaces, profiles, and pipe networks using multiple data sets to assist engineers with analysis of proposed designs.
- Construction Inspection at sites typically outside the Calgary area. Approximately 10 weeks/year will be spent representing our design team in the field throughout your first few years in the role. This is an important part of our team\xe2\x80\x99s work and of your technical development.
Job Requirements:
What you will bring:
- A Diploma in Civil Engineering or Engineering Design and Drafting from an accredited technical institution. Demonstrated experience in projects including site grading and deep and shallow utilities will be an asset.
- Registered, or eligible for registration with ASET.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- 0-10 years of experience.
- Ability to complete work using pre-determined CAD standards and templates.
- Proficiency in MS office software applications such as Word and Excel.
- Takes initiative to work with the project team to understand and manage project risks, deliverables, and schedule.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Committed team player and the ability to work independently.
- Experience in construction inspection would be an asset.
