This position is ideal for someone passionate about municipal infrastructure and subdivision development. As a Civil Engineering Drafting Technologist, you'll work closely with engineers and technologists to develop highly detailed design and construction drawings.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The key job functions are:

  • Create comprehensive construction drawing sets, including subdivision cover sheets and plan-profile layouts.
  • Support the design of subdivisions, including grading and utility layouts.
  • Perform earthworks calculations using existing topography and proposed design surfaces.
  • Import and manipulate survey data to inform design.
  • Design sanitary, storm, and water networks in accordance with municipal standards.
  • Generate and export construction layout data for field teams.
  • Prepare as-built drawings following municipal guidelines.
  • Apply and maintain CAD standards, especially for City of Calgary submissions.
  • Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate deliverables.
  • Manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
Education:
  • Completion of a post-secondary program in Civil Engineering Technology or Engineering Design and Drafting is required.
  • Active or eligible registration with ASET or a similar professional body is considered an asset.
Qualifications:
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is essential, including practical use of alignments, surfaces, profiles, pipe networks, and data referencing.
  • Understanding of relevant municipal design standards, particularly City of Calgary specifications.
Experience:
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on drafting and design experience in a civil or municipal engineering setting.
  • Prior experience with subdivision drafting is required.
  • Familiarity with land development servicing design (roads, grading, water/sewer networks).
  • Background in preparing construction and as-built drawings to municipal standards.

Base Salary: $70,000+ per year
  • Compensation is based on experience and includes regular bonuses tied to performance and project milestones.

  • 40 hours per week

  • This opportunity does not include relocation. It will be the responsibility of the candidate should relocation be required.
