Requirements



- Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.

- 1-5 years' experience with civil earthworks, hydrotechnical and river engineering related projects, preferably in Alberta or Western Canada.

- Construction, survey, or design engineering related experience considered an asset.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Willingness to learn.

- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

- Attention to detail.

- Committed team player.

- Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision.

- Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.

- Valid driver's license (Class 5 or equivalent).

- Willing to travel for work.

- Based out of Calgary office, with field work at sites throughout AB & BC.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Work directly under Sr. Engineering staff, supporting projects with engineering effort.

- Analyze and interpret survey reports, maps, drawings, aerial photography, and other topographical, geologic, or geotechnical data to plan projects.

- Support planning and design of civil works, adhering to construction and government standards, using various design software.

- Complete calculations relating to hydrology, open channel flow, and pipe hydraulics.

- Inspect project sites to monitor construction progress and ensure conformance to design and project specifications.

- Estimate quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labour to determine project feasibility.

- Support preparation of bid proposals including engineering fee estimates, schedules (Gantt charts), project description sheets, and associated documents.

- Prepare technical writing such as design basis memoranda and option assessment reports.

- Prepare regulatory (municipal, provincial, and federal) application documents to obtain approvals/permits for various projects and sites.

- Have technical discussions regarding design, construction, and maintenance with varied audiences (technical and non-technical).

- Take part in company safety program including completing required safety training.

- Various tasks that support day-to-day operations will be required from time to time.

- Opportunity to support geotechnical detailed design work (slope stability, road structures, retaining walls) based on past experience and/or a communicated interest in geotechnical engineering. Similar opportunities exist to dive deep into areas of interest for water resources, environmental, or heavy civil work, where past experience exists and ongoing projects needs allow.

About the Position / Role

- Full time position (35 hrs/week, with the opportunity for banking hours based on workload/project needs).

- Training provided.

- Compensation will be commensurate with experience.

- Standard company benefits package after 3 month waiting period.
