Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the work of technical staff
  • Assist with multi-discipline coordination
  • Lead client coordination
  • Assist with client relations and client management
  • Assist with resource planning and forecasting
  • Assist with monthly invoicing cycle: review/approve time and expenses for projects, prepare monthly projects reports, approve invoices
  • Prepare project management plans that include a summary of project objectives, scope, deliverables, team, budget, and schedule
  • Distribute project management plans to the project team, and update project management plans throughout the project as required
  • Execute the project to meet schedule and budget
  • Prepare earned value analysis (forecasted and actual) for projects
  • Review status of project budgets and project schedules regularly
  • Plan and execute project schedule and budget corrections as required
  • Prepare professional service scope changes as required
  • Design water infrastructures, such as raw water storage ponds, pipelines, and pump stations
  • Design wastewater infrastructures, such as wastewater collections systems, lift stations, wastewater force mains, and lagoons
  • Design water/wastewater pipelines, including an understanding of land acquisitions, crossing agreements, environmental restrictions/limitations, wetland policies, and other requirements of Alberta Environment and Parks
  • Design civil site utilities and site grading for facilities such as pump stations, water treatment plants, lift stations, lagoons, and wastewater treatment facilities
  • Design civil site utilities and site grading for commercial building projects
  • Project manage the bid/tender process for construction projects
  • Review, understand and interpret construction Contract Documents, Drawings, and Specifications
  • Complete construction management activities, such as reviewing budgets, schedules, shop drawings, requests for information inquiries, contractor progress claims, material performance test reports, etc.
  • Conduct field engineering inspections to review if construction work generally conforms to the project drawings and specifications
  • Prepare daily / weekly / monthly inspections reports to document the progress of construction activities, site issues, and potential design conflicts
  • Provide proactive construction management services and attempt to anticipate design and construction conflicts in advance, and work with all parties to propose solutions to resolve conflicts and issues
  • A review of the contractor's work generally conforms to the quality assurance and quality control requirements of the construction contract
  • Coordinate Request for Information (RFI) responses, including the receipt, review, and discussions with the multi-discipline design team if required
  • Coordinate the progress of Shop Drawing Reviews with our administration and engineering staff
  • Assist with the commissioning of water/wastewater infrastructure
Qualifications:
  • The candidate must hold a valid bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Engineering. A degree in Civil or Civil-Environmental is mandatory
  • 10 years of experience in consulting engineering, specifically in the civil engineering area of practice. Candidates with less experience may be considered subject to specific experience and skillsets
  • Must be in good standing with APEGA as a registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.)
  • Possess a valid Class 5 driver's license
