. The ideal candidate will excel in a field-based environment, taking charge of executing heavy civil projects and ensuring they are built safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards. This role is focused on the practical application of engineering principles to manage on-site operations from mobilization through to project completion.
Duties
Review and interpret engineering plans and specifications to ensure constructability and develop detailed work plans for project execution.
Manage all on-site construction activities, including scheduling, cost control, and coordination of subcontractors, labour, and equipment.
Utilize
AutoCAD Civil 3D
to review project plans, coordinate site logistics, track progress, and prepare as-built documentation.
Conduct thorough
construction estimating
, quantity take-offs, and procurement for materials and services required for the project.
Perform and document daily
on-site inspections
and quality control checks to verify compliance with technical specifications and safety regulations.
Serve as the primary technical point of contact on-site, resolving construction issues and managing communication between the design consultants, clients, and construction crews.
Experience & Qualifications
A degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is required; professional engineering designation (P.Eng.) or eligibility is a strong asset.
Proven, hands-on experience in the
construction management
of heavy civil projects, with a demonstrated focus on bridges, marine infrastructure, or major earthworks.
Proficiency in project management and engineering software, including
Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office, and AutoCAD Civil 3D
.
Strong background in field operations, construction methods, geotechnical considerations, and quality assurance protocols.
Excellent project management and communication skills, with a proven ability to lead teams and deliver projects successfully.
