Based in North Bay, the Civil Designer will report to the Project Manager (Civil Engineering) and will have a wide range of duties which ultimately focus on design and drawing preparation for civil engineering projects. You will be part of a team that provides solutions in a diverse range of engineering, including Municipal, Transportation, Environmental, Drainage and Hydrology, Land Development, and Utility Scale Renewable Energy Facilities. What You?ll Do: The Civil Designer will be part of the Engineering team. You will:
  • Assist Project Managers in all aspects of project delivery
  • Work closely with engineers to develop drawings from preliminary concept sketches, engineering calculations, and specification sheets
  • Produce civil engineering design drawings, including but not limited to: Lot Grading, Site Plan Design & Linear Infrastructure, Land Development & Water Resources Engineering
  • Ensure plans are in compliance with applicable standards and drafting requirements
  • Prepare project specifications
  • Multi-task multiple projects of varying size and complexity
  • Undertake estimation of tender quantities
  • Attend project sites for inspections as required

  • You have 7+ years of relevant civil engineering design experience
  • You have knowledge of Site Servicing/Municipal engineering and Stormwater Management
  • You are proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D
  • You have a solid understanding of company/client procedures, drafting principles, design, and engineering skills
  • You have a working knowledge of applicable industry codes, standards, practices, and procedures within the discipline
  • You are willing to travel for site inspections and fieldwork, when required
  • You are someone who makes decisions and exercises independent judgment within defined parameters and in alignment with business objectives
  • You can pivot and alter your approach or recommendations to accomplish desired results
  • You are not afraid to raise your hand when you need help or guidance
  • You are trusted and provided freedom to work independently but also contribute to the overall team success
  • Strong ability in using MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
What You Should Bring: The ideal candidate will have a college diploma from a Civil Engineering Technician or Technology program (or equivalent experience). Additionally, you should have:
  • High motivation with results-oriented focus
  • Superior organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Able to work as a team in a multi-discipline environment
  • Ability to manage and navigate confidential and sensitive data and matters
  • OACETT C.E.T or C. Tech. designation would be considered an asset
  • A valid, full driver?s licence
