Our Markham office has an immediate opening for a Civil Design Engineer - Land Development with Project Management experience to join our team to help us maintain our momentum.
The primary responsibility of this position is to support our project on multiple projects for a range of commercial, multi-residential, institutional, government, and industrial clients. This involves working with our project managers, design engineers, and customers to ensure overall project success from inception to completion.
Key Responsibilities:
Review, mentor and provide guidance to junior staff and assist intermediate and senior staff with engineering design on a variety of projects.
Grading and Site Servicing design for new and retrofit land development projects.
Monitoring industry standards and developments, assessing client needs and making decisions on proposed solutions. Monitoring project financial performance and invoicing clients promptly.
Being a resource for roadway design standards for other internal teams/disciplines.
Participating in the preparation of engineering services proposals.
Preparing technical designs, specifications, and reports for a variety of projects.
Preparing and drafting CAD drawings using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Maintaining control of the schedule to ensure we deliver by agreed-upon due dates.
Advancing projects through the concept, design, and construction phases; managing existing clients; and developing new clients.
Design and design assistance and support to other Project Managers on project delivery.
Attending site meetings and liaising with clients/contractors.
Performing site investigations and field reviews.
Maintaining positive client relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Relevant degree or diploma with a minimum of five to seven years of progressive and related experience within a professional services environment.
Licensed as a Professional Engineer in Ontario (P.Eng.) would be an asset.
Working knowledge of relevant current building construction design standards and codes.
Project management skills and strong attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability for, and interest in, business development.
Ability to coordinate projects with J+B's multi-disciplinary consultant team.
Ability to organize, multi-task and prioritize tasks.
Strong time management and commitment to deadlines.
Possess excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills in English.
Strong computer proficiency with experience in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office Applications.
Expertise in contract document production and construction detailing.
Must be familiar with occupational health and safety regulations on construction sites.
Comfortable on a job site and interacting with various construction trades.
Experience with contract administration, including site reviews and shop drawing reviews.
Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team.
A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle on a regular basis are required.
