Civil Construction Equipment Operator

Job Description

Spur Construction is looking for a skilled and reliable Civil Equipment Operator to join our operations team. This role involves operating and maintaining heavy machinery to support the construction of roads, infrastructure, and civil works projects. You'll play a critical part in delivering high-quality results on time, while prioritizing safety and equipment care.

Key Responsibilities



Operate a variety of heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, graders, loaders, skid steers, and compactors on active job sites.

Read and interpret site plans, grade stakes, and instructions from supervisors.

Perform basic daily equipment checks and pre-operational inspections.

Identify and report mechanical issues or hazards promptly.

Safely transport materials, clear land, dig trenches, and perform grading or backfilling tasks as required.

Assist with the setup and teardown of work areas and traffic control if needed.

Keep equipment clean and assist with basic maintenance tasks such as greasing and fluid checks.

Work closely with site supervisors and crew members to coordinate efficient operations.

Comply with all safety regulations, company policies, and environmental standards.

Maintain accurate equipment usage logs and reports.

Qualifications



Proven experience operating heavy civil construction equipment (minimum 2 years preferred).

Knowledge of safe equipment operation and basic mechanical troubleshooting.

Understanding of grades, elevations, and general site layouts.

Valid driver's license (Class 5 required; Class 3 or air brakes endorsement an asset).

High school diploma or equivalent; equipment operator certification or training preferred.

Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour

Overtime pay
Schedule:

10 hour shift Monday to Friday
Work Location: In person
