within the GTA. This role involves planning daily city deliveries and pickups, optimizing truck routes, and coordinating with drivers to ensure on-time, cost-efficient service. The ideal candidate understands city routing, fleet coordination, and short-haul freight operations.
Duties
Plan and schedule
daily pickups and deliveries
for city trucks based on customer orders and capacity availability.
Build and assign trips efficiently to ensure optimal
route sequencing, mileage reduction, and time utilization
.
Monitor and track active trips in
Transportation Management System (TMS)
and communicate real-time updates to the team.
Coordinate with
drivers, warehouse staff, and cross-dock teams
to manage load preparation and handoffs.
Adjust routes and assignments dynamically in response to
traffic conditions, customer changes, or driver delays
.
Analyze shipment patterns to improve
fleet utilization and empty mileage ratios
.
Ensure all
Bills of Lading (BOLs), Proof of Delivery (PODs), and trip manifests
are accurate and submitted on time.
Communicate proactively with customers for delivery times, exceptions, or service-related inquiries.
Work closely with the operations manager to improve
on-time delivery performance (OTD%)
and dispatch accuracy.
Maintain logs of
equipment status, driver hours, and daily trip metrics
for compliance and reporting.
Requirements and Qualifications
Minimum
3+ years of hands-on experience
in
city dispatching, load planning, or fleet operations
(LTL/FTL environment).
Strong operational knowledge of
GTA routes, local deliveries, and time-sensitive freight distribution.
Proficient in
Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
-- LoadLink, Rose Rocket, Tailwind, or similar.
Working knowledge of
HOS (Hours of Service) rules, ELD monitoring, and driver compliance.
Ability to analyze
trip data, route patterns, and fuel efficiency metrics
to support continuous improvement.
Experience coordinating with
owner-operators, company drivers, and third-party carriers.
Familiarity with
cross-dock scheduling, dock time windows, and customer-specific routing instructions.
Strong computer skills in
Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and load-tracking software.
Excellent
decision-making, multitasking, and communication skills
under operational pressure.
Ability to work independently while maintaining close coordination with operations and warehouse teams.
Diploma or equivalent work experience in
Logistics, Supply Chain, or Transportation Management
