Circuit Designer / Modeling Engineer (next Generation Technology)

Edmonton, AB, CA, Canada

Job Description

About the Company
Join Zinite to reignite Moore's Law by unlocking high-performance,
integrated 3D chips for leading-edge CMOS. Zinite is redefining how the
semiconductor industry scales performance. The company's core innovation
is a new class of transistors that enable true 3D vertical computation,
introducing active functionality into new physical layers above logic without
disrupting front-end nodes. This represents a fundamental new platform for
semiconductor scaling, addressing the physical and economic limits of
Moore's Law.
We are a team of world-class physicists, materials scientists, and integration
engineers who have already secured a "Big 3" HVM partner. We are now
expanding our design ecosystem that begins with you.
About the Role
This is not a standard circuit design role. You will be working with a new
device technology, co-developing its SPICE models, and defining how it
performs at circuit level. We are looking for a designer who is as much a
physicist and detective as an engineer, someone who understands devices
from first principles and thrives in exploratory design environments.
You will play a critical role translating device behavior into functional,
validated circuit models that drive both internal R&D and external partner
adoption. You'll take early transistor data and help translate it into a design-
ready, predictive SPICE environment. You'll work directly with device and
process teams, lead early circuit validation projects, and shape how
customers and partners design with our technology. Your insights will help
shape the design rules, corner models, and reference circuits for a
technology that will define a new industry standard.

Primary Responsibilities
?Develop and simulate novel circuits (e.g., Power, memory, analog)
using next-generation BEOL transistor technology.
?Partner directly with the device physics team to co-develop and refine
compact SPICE models.
?Investigate discrepancies between simulation and transistor data to
identify root causes and refine the device model or layout.
?Define "corner" and reliability models for a first-of-its-kind transistor
architecture.
?Characterize circuit-level performance, power, and reliability, and feed
results back to the technology development team.
?Contribute to foundational IP (patents, reference designs) that will
support future ecosystem and customer adoption.
Skills and Qualifications
Required Qualifications
?Strong understanding of semiconductor device physics and circuit
fundamentals.
?Proficiency with SPICE-based circuit simulation tools (HSPICE,
Spectre, Eldo, or equivalent).
?Ability to interpret device measurements and correlate to circuit-level
behavior.
?Demonstrated ability to debug and solve complex modeling or
performance issues.
?Excellent communication skills and comfort collaborating across
device, circuit, and system teams.
?Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a
related field.
Preferred Qualifications
?Experience with TCAD tools (Synopsys Sentaurus, Silvaco Atlas) or
compact model development (Verilog-A, BSIM).

?Background in transistor physics, thin-film transistors, SRAM, analog,
or mixed-signal circuit design.
?Experience with custom layout and understanding of layout-
dependent effects.
?Master's or PhD degree in a related discipline is a plus but not
required.
