Accountabilities:Answers phone/emails and responds to volunteer/client inquiries as required.
Record statistical data in a clear, organized, and accurate manner.
Assist with processing, unloading, documenting, and sorting donations of toys and food for the Christmas program, and assist with preparing donated items for distribution.
Assist with pick-ups of food and toy donations from community donors using the program vehicle.
Assist with the setup and take-down of the toy and food Christmas hamper distribution centre.
Perform work in the Toy Shoppe as well as assist volunteers in the Toy Shoppe.
Assist with sorting toy donations.
Assist with recruitment of volunteers via telephone calls.
May assist in the Kettle campaign where needed.
Perform other related duties as required.
Working Conditions:This is a temporary position.
Shifts may include days, afternoons, evenings, weekend shifts, and split shifts, Monday through Saturday. Applicable shifts include a hour unpaid meal break.
Flexibility in scheduling is required, as the hours may increase as per operational requirements.
Required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification.
Ability to lift/move up to 20 lbs. (11.34 kgs) in a safe manner.
Local travel may be associated with this position.

Education, Qualifications, and Certifications:Completed High School or equivalent
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:Minimum of one (1) year of prior related experience working in community-based programs would be a definite asset.
Strong skills in all Microsoft Office products and good working knowledge and experience with email and internet-based programs
Valid British Columbia Class Driver's License, current copy of the driver's abstract for review and verification that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.

Treat the property of The Salvation Army with due care and caution.
Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.
Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $17.85 to $21.66 with a maximum of $25.99.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
