POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY:
The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign is part of a century old tradition to contribute towards building strong communities by helping TSA to give hope to other.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The incumbent may perform all, some, or similar range of duties.
Remain at the Kettle for the full shift (until relieved), ensuring security of donations received.
Respond to questions/queries from potential donors regarding SA ministries and programs.
Present a positive image (well-groomed/dressed) and represent TSA well while on duty.
Work with minimal supervision.
Must comply with all Salvation Army policies, procedures, and associated legislation.
Treat the property of The Salvation Army with due care and caution.
Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
CRITICAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT:
Internal: TSA staff members, Kettle campaign team
External: Community members
MANAGERIAL/TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reports directly to the Officers.
Direct reports: none.
FINANCIAL AND MATERIAL MANAGEMENT:
Collect donations and petty cash and ensure donations are always kept secure.
WORKING CONDITIONS:This is a temporary casual relief position based on no standard weekly hours of work; there are no guaranteed hours
Must be willing and able to work shifts that may include days, afternoons, evenings, weekend shifts, and split shifts, Monday through Saturday. Applicable shifts include a hour unpaid meal break.
Flexibility in scheduling is required, as the hours may increase as per the Christmas Kettle Campaign operational requirements.
Required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification.
Local travel may be associated with this position.
Work environment is typically in malls/stores
Standing for long periods will be required and exposure to cold weather.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army's health and safety policies and procedures.
Alternative combination of education and Experience may be considered.
Education, Qualifications and Certifications:
Some high school coursework, completion of high school is an asset
Experience:
Up to one year of related experience or working in customer service
Money handling experience is an asset
Related experience is an asset
Skills and CapabilitiesExcellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and adaptability.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Reliable transportation to kettle location.
Able to lift 9 to 12 kgs (20 - 25 lbs.).
Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army's health and safety policies and procedures.
Honest, courteous, and punctual; represent the organization in a positive, professional, and engaging manner.
Strong customer service skills; enjoy liaising and working with people of all ages and abilities.
Willingness to be flexible and work well under pressure with daily timelines and changing priorities.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in the handling of donors, volunteer, and organizational information.

Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $16.00 to $17.46 with a maximum of $20.95.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
