Niagara Life Centre (NLC) is a Christian counselling centre committed to offering help, hope, and healing to individuals and families navigating life's most difficult challenges. As a charity, we provide compassionate care through low-fee professional counselling, community engagement, and group programs.
Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Christian Counsellor, Social Worker, or Registered Psychotherapist to join our team! We are a team focused organization that provides a collaborative office culture and positive work environment to help support counsellors in their role as they walk alongside clients.
Key Responsibilities
Provide counselling services (individual, couples and/or family counselling) and help facilitate group programs within your unique scope of practice via in person, virtual and phone sessions.
Develop an individualized counselling/therapy plan for each client to address presenting needs.
Basic scheduling and communications in accordance with your client base.
Keep accurate case notes using the SOAP template provided in a timely manner.
Integrate Christian principles and spiritual values in the counselling relationship in accordance with the NLC Standard of Practice and Standard of Care.
Attend regular consultation sessions with the NLC appointed Clinical Supervisor.
Attend accredited training on an ongoing basis to satisfy regulatory requirements, remain current in counselling practices, and further develop your unique scope of practice.
Qualifications
A strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a desire to serve clients with empathy, compassion and biblical truth
Master's degree in counselling, social work, or related field with 2+ years experience, or 5+ years of counselling experience with appropriate accreditation
Proficiency in clinical assessment, goal setting, and solution-focused techniques
Experience in life coaching and short-term counselling models
Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse populations
Strong oral and written communication skills
Skilled in listening, observation, and facilitation for effective intervention
Conflict resolution, mediation, and crisis response capabilities
Critical thinking and creativity in therapeutic strategy development
Commitment to professional ethics and healthy boundaries
Ability to motivate clients toward positive life changes
Proficiency in word processing applications, counselling software and basic computer skills
Police check clearance required
