Beaverhouse First Nation is seeking a dedicated and energetic Youth Outreach Worker to join our team. The Choose Life Worker plays a key role in supporting the health, wellness, and resilience of Beaverhouse First Nations youth.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain a culturally safe, positive, and enriching environment for Youth who attend programming in the office and out on the land. Program delivery will at times be located at our Land Based locations.
Deliver culturally appropriate services through the NAN Choose Life program with focus on preventing suicide for indigenous youth and promoting cultural living.
Engaging youth (and their families) to identify issues and barriers to accessing community services.
Be available for counselling with Youth, setting up referrals for youth counselling supports, creation of a youth sharing circle, as well as working in partnership with other social service providers in ensuring all around care and support for youth. Reaching out to our youth in care and empower families in living well with culture.
Ensure accurate records are kept of all program activities; attendance records, sign-in sheets, stats, registration forms, privacy forms, incident reports and picture releases. Progress notes are a necessity for youth counselling.
Assisting in ongoing upkeep and maintenance of program facilities and resources.
Must be able to attend training and/or workshops out of town as mandated by the programs.
Maintain a confidential and positive rapport with coworkers, clients, and other indigenous agencies.
Must be able to work some evenings and weekends and prepared for other duties as assigned.
Experience with facilitation or coordination of group activities.

Required Qualifications:
Minimum 1-2 years of education or experience in Social Service Work, Child Youth Work or related field.
Experience with facilitation or coordination of group activities
Experience with Microsoft Office suite, TEAMS, and other related office programs.
Highly motivated, reliable, and committed.
Effective oral and written communication skills
Assets:
Knowledge of Indigenous Culture and Willingness to learn.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed
Experience with case management and community-based support services
Valid Driver's license and access to a vehicle.
Valid First Aid/CPR
