CORE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION



The Chiropodist will assess, diagnose, treat and provide education/counselling for clients according to the College of Chiropodists of Ontario. As a key member of the inter-professional team, the Chiropodist will:

Manage client case load relating to treating foot and lower leg pathologies

Create, implement and prescribe therapeutic, orthotic or palliative treatments plans to prevent disease, dysfunctions and for disorders

Conduct diabetic foot assessments

Perform minor soft tissue surgery, possibly involving local anesthesia (nail and cyst removal, incisions, etc)

Creation of custom orthotics including the use of required equipment, fitting and adjustments

Administrative duties such as attending staff meetings, organizational tasks, phone calls to clients

Cleaning of instruments used, and packing of instruments to ready for sterilization

Ensure chiropody areas, resources, materials and equipment are maintained

Contribute to chart documentation as per college and weCHC standards; participate in chart reviews and case conferences

Participate in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of treatment, education, counselling and health promotion programs and services for individuals, families and the community

Perform other duties that support the mission and vision of the organization and/or as assigned based on position responsibilities and/or site requirements.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED



At least 2 years' experience, preferably in a primary care or community health setting

Excellent communication and presentation skills with a demonstrated ability to undertake fitness counselling (individual and group)

Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member within an evolving role in an inter-professional environment

Strong commitment to health promotion, community development and adult education

Ability to work in a variety of social and physical settings

Experience in program development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation

Excellent follow-up and follow through skills with ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner

Clean driver's abstract, current, valid Class "G" Driver's License and reliable transportation to support travel across Windsor-Essex County and the province, as required

Bilingual (English/French) language skills an asset

Education and certificate requirement



Diploma of Chiropody, together with an Undergraduate degree from a recognized University

Member in good standing and current registration with the College of Chiropodists of Ontario

Completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check prior to commencing employment.
