About the Show - Takuginai:
Takuginai is IBC's beloved children's television series, embraced by generations across Nunavut and beyond. Produced in Inuktut, the show blends live action, puppets, animation and music to teach values, language, and culture to children in a fun and engaging way.
Position Summary:
IBC is seeking an experienced, visionary Children's Television Producer to lead the production of Takuginai. This role is based in our Ottawa office and offers an opportunity to shape one of Canada's most enduring children's programs. The ideal candidate is highly organized, familiar with the culture, and experienced in producing children's television shows.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of Takuginai's production, from development through to post-production
- Lead a cross-functional creative team including writers, animators, puppeteers, editors, and crew
- Ensure content is age-appropriate, culturally respectful, and linguistically accurate
- Collaborate with advisors, community members, and language experts
- Develop production schedules and ensure delivery on time and within budget
- Maintain the creative vision and editorial direction of the series
- Work closely with IBC leadership and partners to meet funding, broadcasting, and reporting requirements
- Mentor emerging talent in television production
Qualifications:
- Minimum five years experience producing children's television content
- Strong understanding of Inuit culture, language, and communities
- Proven track record managing production teams and workflows
- Exceptional organizational, leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work creatively under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Experience with grant reporting, budgeting and managing deliverables
- Knowledge of Inuktut is essential
- Willingness to travel to the North on occasion
