Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week

Who we are: Through a collaborative and evidence-based approach, Early Years and Child Care Services (EYCCS) plans, oversees, funds and manages a wide range of services intended to help families and children in Peel access safe and affordable child care and receive the supports they need to thrive. As the region\xe2\x80\x99s service system manager, our goal is to shape an inclusive, accessible, affordable, high-quality and accountable early years and child care system that supports parental choice and promotes child growth and development, making Peel a community for life.

The Role: The Children\'s Services Worker will determine financial eligibility for child care subsidy in accordance with Ministry guidelines, policies and regulations.

What you will do in this role:

  • Determines eligibility for child care subsidy based on Ministry guidelines, policies and regulations
  • Ensures accurate and thorough case management of client files
  • Coordinates the placement of children in licensed child-care programs within the Region of Peel
  • Maintains a high-volume caseload
  • Refers to appropriate community resources
  • Compiles statistical reports that are required for the Division and the Province
  • Collaborates with various partners including purchase of service supervisors/operators, agencies, and Ontario Works Caseworkers for the provision of services
  • Resolves conflict situations including disputes and complaints
  • Acts as a resource to clients and to the general public
  • Performs administrative work pertaining to all cases
What the role requires:
  • Post-secondary education (degree or diploma) in a Human Services or related discipline with two (2) years of experience in the Human Services field
  • Client focused and able to apply sound judgment to support good decision making in response to complex and sensitive issues
  • Knowledge and ability to interpret relevant legislation including the Ontario Child Care and EarlyON Child & Family Centres Service Management & Funding Guideline, the Child Care & Early Years Act, 2014, MFIPPA, ODSP, Housing Services, Residential Tenancy and Human Rights Act
  • Knowledge of Human Services program areas including, Early Years Child Care Services, Financial and Employment, Social Housing and Homelessness
  • Working knowledge of Human Services technology including Ontario Child Care Management System, SAMS, EIM and MS Office
Skills/Abilities:
  • Solid assessment and decision making skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven problem solving skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong and accurate mathematical skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal Supervision
  • Child care or fee subsidy experience would be considered an asset

Work Mode & Job Location: In this role you will have the ability to work remotely and attend on-site when required based on operational requirements at the 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton worksite. The frequency of on-site activities may vary on a weekly basis and based on operational requirements. Your remote work location must be located within the province of Ontario.
