Armour Heights Community Centre is seeking a karate instructor trained in Shotokan or
Goju Ryu, to teach children ages and up.
The level taught will be beginners.
Instructor will :
develop lesson plans appropriate for various age groups
teach and demonstrate core values and foundational techniques of karate.
monitor student progress, help them to learn and improve techniques,
and prepare students to advance.
provide positive reinforcement and feedback and organize belt testing as required
maintain equipment
ensure a safe environment
The classes are 2 hours per week from 5:30 to 6:30 Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Salary is $45 and up per hour depending on experience.
Classes are held in a large, well equipped fitness studio
Requirements:
At least 2 years of teaching experience with children
Black Belt and second degree Dan
Expertise in belt testing
Must enjoy working with children and have strong classroom management skills
Must have excellent communication skills and be able to engage students
Must have or be willing to get Vulnerable Sector Screening
First Aid and CPR Certification preferred

Armour Heights Community Centre located near Avenue Rd and the 401, is a volunteer managed organization which has been providing children's programs to the community for over 40 years.
Our karate classes which have trained students to the junior black belt level, have been in the style of Goju Ryu and Shotokan.
