The Coordinator has responsibility for implementing programmes, overseeing and supporting volunteer ministry groups to help children grow spiritually, and help families support that growth. The Coordinator will demonstrate a balance of both building and shepherding a team, along with the experience to model and teach the skills to others. The Coordinator will have a theological background which guides activities and spiritual and personal growth; aptitude for and experience in working with children and families
Leadership and Volunteer Management
Oversee the volunteer children's ministry groups and be a resource for volunteers in Kids and Family Ministries
Recruit, train and provide ongoing direction and support to volunteer leaders
Provide oversight of the nursery
Ensure volunteer leaders are acting in accordance with OPC policies and procedures, addressing situations as they arise.
Children's and Family Ministries Coordination, Planning and Support
Plan and implement events in conjunction with Minister and other program staff, to avoid overlap of activities or strain on resources.
Select, order and assess Kids Ministry yearly curriculum in collaboration with the Christian Team
Plan educational faith development programs and events for children and families.
Engage young families through organized activities in conjunction with the Adult Ministries Coordinator and Youth & Young Adults Coordinator
Integrate new children and families into the OPC community; provide pastoral care to those families
Organize events with an outward and intentional focus, inviting the new families into OPC; Kidz Camp/VBS, March Break Camp, and other scheduled events
Administration
Maintain awareness of Health and Safety risk issues to ensure a safe environment
Ensure knowledge, understanding and enforcement of the Leading with Care policy, among all Children's and Family Ministries volunteers.
Perform all administrative duties related to the role using Microsoft Office Suite and other related software programs
Ensure Children's and Family Ministries information is up-to-date on the OPC website.
Attend weekly staff meetings.
Budget Preparation
Prepare annual budget for Children's and Family Ministries
Document and monitor expenses incurred ensuring compliance with budget and timely reporting.
Demonstrate independent decision making within the approved budget regarding expenditures for programming.
