Job Description

Heritage Family Services is currently hiring temporary full-time Child and Youth Care Workers for our residential programs in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta.

We are looking for individuals who are compassionate, dependable, and committed to making a positive impact on the lives of children and youth. The ideal candidate is someone others describe as genuine, service-oriented, organized, and engaging -- with the ability to build meaningful, trauma-informed relationships with youth in care.

Key Responsibilities:

Build and maintain positive, respectful relationships with youth, recognizing each individual's uniqueness. Promote safety and security by preventing unauthorized absences, following policy guidelines, and creating emotionally stable environments. Implement daily routines and youth-driven programming that support development and structure. Assist in planning and preparing meals alongside youth. Celebrate youth achievements and foster a strong sense of self-worth. Advocate for the needs and rights of each child/youth, including collaboration with the Child and Youth Advocate. Create a nurturing environment responsive to the youth's emotional and developmental needs. Teach and support daily life skills including emotional regulation, problem-solving, and communication strategies.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Minimum age: 18 years or older. Completion of or enrollment in a post-secondary program related to Social Work, Child and Youth Care, or Human Services is a strong asset. Must provide a clear Criminal Record Check (with Vulnerable Sector), Child Intervention Check, and Drivers Abstract (Class 5 license, fewer than 6 demerits). Strong understanding and respect for Indigenous cultures, traditions, and holistic care approaches. Demonstrated awareness and sensitivity to diverse cultural, gender, and sexual identities. Ability to work respectfully and effectively across different backgrounds and communities.

Mandatory Requirements:

A Criminal Record Check (with Vulnerable Sector) that is dated within the last 6 months

A Child Intervention Check that is dated within the last 6 months

Proof of eligibility to work in Canada

Class 5 Alberta Government Issued Driver's License

A Driver's Abstract that is dated within the last 6 months

Copy of education listed in resume.
