Summary of Position
Under the direction and supervision of the Childcare Support Manager, the main objective of the Childcare Support Worker is to administer activities for the children of residents and clients that consider the developmental and special needs of each child. The Childcare Support Worker is adaptable as they are required to work between the licensed Daycare Center and the Family Resource Center. As the point of contact for mothers, the Childcare Support Worker ensures mothers are aware of the services and program activities available and provide support that they may request. Having knowledge of relevant agencies for referrals and effective case management is key to ensure mothers and their children receive the best care and support needed.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Work to develop supportive relationships within a trauma-informed lens
Ensure all reporting and documentation is accurate, up-to-date, non-judgmental, culturally inclusive, trauma-informed and women-centered
Knowledge of Children's First Legislation and Children's Services regulations
Work to ensure a safe and secure environment for all residents, volunteers, and colleagues
Ensure that families are supported by providing referrals and advocacy to meet the needs of each family's situation and that adequate discharge planning is in place
Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure best service delivery
Assist in the development and facilitation of programming
Liaise and maintain effective working relationships with representatives of community partners and agencies to continue to meet the needs of clients
Seek out, inquire, and engage in new opportunities and education in areas where development is necessary
