We are looking for dedicated and nurturing educators to join our team part-time. Your role will be instrumental in shaping the lives of children, as you will be responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and educational environment. The ideal candidate will be passionate about working with children and committed to their well-being, fostering their development, and providing age-appropriate activities that promote learning and growth.
Duties
-Supervise and engage with children in a safe and supportive environment.
-Plan and implement educational activities that promote early childhood development.
-Provide care for children's basic needs, including feeding, dressing, and hygiene.
-Create a positive atmosphere that encourages social interaction and emotional growth.
-Maintain a clean and organized classroom setting.
-Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's progress and any concerns.
-Observe children's behaviour to identify any developmental or emotional issues.
-Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a cohesive approach to childcare.
Qualifications and Requirements
-Early Childhood Educator diploma preferred or relevant post-secondary education.
-Pertinent experience working with young children in a group setting.
-Capacity to work well in a team setting and independently.
-Must speak, read and write fluently in English. French is an asset.
-Proof of up-to-date immunizations.
-Recent police vulnerable sector check (no more than six months old).
-Valid training: Standard First Aid, CPR Level C, anaphylaxis, Ontario Health and Safety certificate, and WHMIS certificate.
Skills
- Experience working with children in a classroom or caregiving setting is essential.
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles and practices.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with children and parents alike.
- Ability to educate children through play-based learning activities.
- Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills are crucial for success in this role.
- Organizational skills to manage daily activities effectively.
Duration and salary
Start Date August 29, 2025
-Part-time hours after school 2:55 to 5:45 pm (2.75 hours) for 200 school days, plus 1.5 hours weekly during the school year for programming and How Does Learning Happen? documentation. Before school positions also available from 7:10-8:20 am.
-Minimum of 7.5 hours for 60 non-instructional days (PD days, school breaks and summer)
- Salary is according to the current pay scale, starting at $26.80 an hour, plus up to the current $2 per hour wage enhancement grant for time worked in the program (subject to change)
*Please note that we also have support staff positions available at an hourly rate of $20 plus $2 per hour wage enhancement grant for time worked in the program (subject to change).
