What do we need from you?

The Floor Supervisor will work closely with Centre Management to promote excellence in the delivery of Kepler Academy's core foundation. You will assist in promoting and setting a positive work environment, providing relevant feedback, licensing guidance, programing advice and support to your team. You are the liaison between the Centre Management and the team members. This position act as an alternate Manager on Duty during management's absence.

This role consists of 80% classroom support duties and 20% administrative duties.

What will you do?

Provide classroom support during transitions, breaks, peak times and employee time-off

Supporting urgent needs of children when necessary

Conduct observations of new and existing team members and share findings with Centre Management, support new hire onboarding

Ensure the physical environment is clean, organized, and regularly maintained by the team

Ensure children are signed in and out daily

Ensure compliance with licensing regulations by providing licence guidance to the team and address issues with the management team immediately

Support team members with incident reporting and communication with families

Ensure medications are administered as required and documented when necessary

Keep children files, portable record cards and allergy listings current

Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and report concerns to Centre Management

Assist Centre Management to ensure organization's policies and procedures are followed

Assist with reviewing weekly programming to ensure they meet Kepler standards and advise Centre Management if extra coaching and support is necessary from the team member

Monitor classrooms to ensure routines are practiced and programming aligns with scheduled activities

Build positive relationships with children, families, and team members, support onboarding of new team members

May assist in family centre tours when required


You will possess the following:

Solid knowledge and understanding of the Alberta Licensing & AHS for Child Care Regulations

Desire to, and demonstrate qualities to advance to management related role

Demonstrate leadership, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving qualities

Willingness to consciously create a workplace culture that is consistent with the overall organization and emphasizes the identified mission, vision, guiding principles, and values of the organization.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills in a clear, concise, and professional manner

Ability to be open-minded, supportive, respectful, and compassionate

Understand the importance in protecting the privacy and confidentiality of information about families, children and team members

Ability to converse with parents and staff in a courteous and professional manner


Required qualifications to work at Kepler Academy:

A minimum of 3 years Early Childhood experience in the Childcare industry

Child Development Certificate issued in the Province of Alberta; Level 3 preferred

Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of childcare professionals

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Demonstrate leadership qualities

Valid Standard Child Care / Level C First Aid certificate

Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check issued within the past 6 months
