Job Summary
The Child and Youth Worker serves the mission of the YMCA of Lethbridge by supporting programming including, childminding, indoor play, family play programs, youth programs, community events and PD Day camps while providing exceptional customer service The main goals of this position are:
1. Ensure participants are following proper safety guidelines.
2. Implement programs to support child development through play and implement recreational and social programming for youth.
3. Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
4. $19.00 per hour

Nature & Scope
The Child and Youth Worker will support the Association as part of the Child and Youth Programs team. The major responsibilities of this position are, but not limited to:
Leadership and Strategic Planning
Exemplify the YMCA of Lethbridge's Core Values of caring, honesty, inclusiveness, respect, and responsibility.
Promote a positive, inclusive work environment, responding to general inquiries in a timely manner and in accordance with Association policies and guidelines.
Be a YMCA ambassador by engaging in and promoting practices and frameworks which ensure diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
Participate in the YMCA of Lethbridge's health and safety program including incident management and emergency response when required.
Identify and accurately report potential safety hazards.
Effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders, demonstrating effective listening and comprehensive skills to maintain working relationships.
Organizational and Department Management
Contribute to the completion of administrative duties within Child and Youth Programs when required.
Engage with children, youth, and families during programs while ensuring participants are following YMCA of Lethbridge policies and procedures.
Support the set-up and taken down of facility spaces and equipment.
Implement new and ongoing child and youth programs, as well as through collaborative programs with local community organizations with direction from the Manager, Child and Youth Programs.
Demonstrate a commitment to child and youth development through best practices.
Occasionally carry out tasks requiring some mental effort and concentration.
Monitor the general safety and maintenance of amenities ad associated areas.
Model best practices, upholding high standards for excellence in team implementations.
Work on proceduralized tasks that require following prescribed standard practices.
Attend all required YMCA trainings and recertifications.
Financial Management and Philanthropic Involvement
Model the Association's dedication to philanthropy.
Participate in Fund Development Initiatives to further the impact of team efforts.
Adhere to the team's annual budget.
External Relations and Advocacy
Build positive relationships with members, patrons, employees, volunteers, and other stakeholders.
Role model team initiatives and projects within the Association.
Follow policies regarding confidentiality to safeguard data and information and handle sensitive information with a strong sense of ethics and confidentiality, in addition to all Association policies and guidelines.
Participate in external growth opportunities in alignment with team goals.
Physical/Special Demands
This position includes prolonged standing and walking
This position involves the ability to lift 20 kgs
Qualifications and Experience
Current Intermediate First Aid and CPR Level C certifications are required
Experience in a child and youth serving or recreation program is considered an asset
Evidence of an acceptable Police Information Check and Child Intervention Check
Three professional references are required
