SUMMARY

:

Chippewas of the Thames First Nation is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Child & Family Wellbeing Worker. Under the supervision of the Child & Family Wellbeing Services Coordinator, this role is responsible for providing one-on-one support services to children and families involved with Children's Aid Society (CAS), with a focus on holistic family support and wellbeing.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



Family Support:



Develop, coordinate, and deliver support services to children and families. Create and implement intervention plans within program guidelines. Provide emotional, practical, and advocacy support for families. Facilitate programming related to parenting, life skills, and behavior management. Conduct monthly home visits and assessments. Collaborate with community resources (e.g. mental health, schools, social services). Organize community events, including an annual Christmas Party for client families.

Recordkeeping & Administration:



Maintain detailed and confidential records of client interactions. Ensure compliance with reporting procedures and confidentiality standards. Submit reports, timesheets, and expenses as required.

Teamwork & Collaboration:



Participate in case reviews and departmental meetings. Liaise with internal staff and external service providers to meet client needs. Accompany clients to appointments and support services when necessary.

Professional Accountability

:

Stay current on community needs, legislation, and best practices. Uphold ethical standards and maintain professional boundaries. Engage in professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

:

Diploma in Social Services Worker, Native Community Care, or Human Services. Minimum 2 years' experience working with youth and families. Knowledge of First Nations health and social issues, including historical trauma. Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills. Proficient in MS Office and other digital tools. Valid Class G Driver's License, access to a reliable vehicle, and ability to travel. Current CPR & First Aid certification. Clear CPIC with Vulnerable Sector Check (within 6 months). Preference will be given to applicants who are registered First Nation members (as per Section 16(1) of the Canadian Human Rights Act).

Assets

:

Experience working with First Nation communities. Familiarity with the Child, Youth and Family Services Act, Duty to Report, and other relevant legislation.
