Catholic Social Services is currently seeking a full-time, 40 per week, Child & Youth Care Worker in EDMONTON to join our Safe House program. Providing excellent client-centered care, you are confident, thoughtful, and motivated to achieve success when supporting others in your community.
This position has a weekly schedule of: Monday to Friday on a rotation; Week 1 - three evenings (2:00pm -10:00pm/1:00pm -10:00pm or 3:00pm -11:00pm), two days 7:00am - 3:00pm/8:00am - 4:00pm; Week 2 - two evenings and three days same mix as above.
Program Overview:
The Safe House program is a short term residential group program for high risk youth that have been exposed to substance, physical and mental abuse, sexual exploitation, physical/mental trauma, etc. This program supports youth to reduce their involvement in high risk behaviours using harm reduction principles and practices including circle of courage philosophy, strength based and resiliency focused assessments, which promote empowerment and stabilization. With counselling and support, youth work on developing skills to manage the high risk activities while working on personal goals in hopes of stabilizing and transitioning to a long term residential program.
Job Summary:
As a Child and Youth Care Worker, you will be responsible for assessing the needs of the youth, goal planning with the youth, providing counselling and teaching basic life skills, while ensuring basic needs are met (food, clothing, shelter, healthcare, safety).
