CHILD WELFARE WORKER



Full-Time Permanent



Location - Dryden



POSITION SUMMARY:




The Child Welfare Worker (CWW) is responsible for case management for a wide range of child welfare services. Duties may include individualized case planning and resource provision to children and families with a focus on child welfare and protection services. The CWW is responsible for related functions that encompass but are not limited to: program delivery, plans for service, documentation and reporting, intervention, protection, and investigation. A further position component is the advocacy and support for children in temporary and long-term care of Anishinaabe Abinoojii Family Services (AAFS), and for the families who require protection intervention. The CWW reports to the Resource Manager in all aspects of job functions.

QUALIFICATIONS



Bachelor of Social Work Degree with working experience in services for children and their families, however, a combination of education with extensive knowledge and proven skills may be considered Expert knowledge of Customary Care and the philosophy of services development and delivery the communities and family structure, are well as local First Nation customs and traditions Knowledge of and experience in traditional and contemporary healing practices with experience working with Elders, Healers and Clinicians Strong commitment to helping Anishinaabe children and their families by providing services in ways that respect Anishinaabe culture and spiritual practices Knowledge of the Child, Youth and Family Services Act and Regulations particularly Part IV, Section 80 relating to Customary Care of the First Nations Understanding of the Ontario Child Protection Standards Knowledge of the structure and operation of Anishinaabe Abinoojii Family services including mission, vision, values and mandate Excellent assessment and analytical skills with proven ability to determine level of risk and/or risk of future harm Ability to prepare comprehensive detailed case recordings, reports and case notes within specified timelines Direct working knowledge and experience in a variety of computer programs including: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Dayforce HCM Understanding of customary care and the philosophy of service delivery of AAFS. Additional required understanding of local customs and traditions that utilize a community minded approach Excellent time management and supervisory skills, with the ability to plan accordingly to project timelines and goals Possession of First Aid and CPR certificates an asset Extensive experience working with a computerized data base Excellent communication, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills Committed to ensure the highest level of confidentiality at all times Must possess a valid Ontario G Driver's License, be willing to travel and provide Driver's Abstract, and Ability to speak Ojibway is preferred and a definite asset.

WORKING CONDITIONS:




The position requires repetitive movements, especially keyboarding, and sitting for long periods of time at a desk, perhaps sharing a workspace with other colleagues in an atmosphere adhering to strict deadlines. Includes working in high stress social settings, being called out with no notice to emergency situations, driving to semi-remote Anishinaabe communities on rough and winding class "C" roadways and in various weather conditions, exposure to diverse living conditions and community environments and different sociocultural milieus.

Salary Range: $

69,095.25 - $84,740.70 per annum

AAFS offers 4 weeks of paid vacation, Extended Health, Dental, AD&D, and Group Life benefits to this position after one month of employment as well as voluntary participation in our Pension Program
