Title: Childminding/Day Camp Counsellor

Reports to: Kieshia Desmond Youth Director

Position Status: Part Time

Salary: $ 16.50 Hourly

Start Date: soon as possible

Office Location: YMCA of Pictou County

The YMCA of Pictou County is looking for a dynamic self-starter to join our team as a Childminding Staff/Day Camp Counsellor. At Pictou County YMCA we know the value of being healthy and active, of bringing people together, and social and physical activity within a community.

Position Summary

Childminding workers are responsible for planning, leading and implementing programs for children in a group setting, while their parents are using the YMCA facility. They will also be responsible for the general safety, development and growth of participants they interact with day to day. Flexibility in availability is required for the position based on operations need.

o_ Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks_

o_ Superior interpersonal and communication skills are essential to establishing and maintaining harmonious working relationships_

o_ Demonstrated discretion and sound judgement in the handling of confidential information; this includes a high degree of integrity and trust_

o_ Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in the resolution of issues, process improvement and evaluation_

o_ High level of initiative is needed to work independently and respond to unanticipated items_

o_ Schedule flexibility to accommodate variations outside of regular business hours, as needed._

o_ Note: Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, and proof of valid First Aid and CPR training. Having these documents ready for the interview is recommended._

o_ Employees will be required to attend YMCA Child Protection Training. _
