As a Child Development instructor, you will be responsible for designing and planning and age-appropriate instruction in recreational pre-school and after school care programs. Provides high quality care and supervision of children registered in the programs. Primary duties include:

Plan and implement meaningful program activities and complete comprehensive lesson plans. Provide leadership in a variety of educational and recreational activities to program participants. Ensure safety and appropriate supervision of program participants. May also require food preparation. Preparation and maintenance of equipment, supplies and program space. Maintain program records and assist with program evaluation. Provide positive role model leadership and coaching to volunteers and new staff as required.


Qualifications

Minimum of 18 years of age. Completed High School diploma or equivalency (such as GED) and 2 years direct leadership and instructional experience working with target population. Level 2 - Proof of completion of Child Development Worker certification is required. Level 3 - Proof of completion of Child Development Supervisor certification is an asset. Experience working with diverse populations i.e., culturally and/or physically divers populations would be considered an asset. Previous training and knowledge of Physical Literacy will be considered an asset. Willingness to take City Specific training (i.e. High Five (PHCD)). Strong communication skills along with demonstrated initiate, planning, and organizational skills. Sound judgement in safety standards and well-developed customer service skills.

Pre-employment Requirements

Current Intermediate First Aid certification (equivalent to Standard First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) level "C", and Automated External Defibrillator (AED)) is required. A valid Security Clearance with Vulnerable Sector Search must be provided. Date of completion must be within the last 6 months. Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications. Compensation: $22.40 - 32.59 per hour
Days of Work: This position works various shifts,

including daytime, evenings, and weekends.

Hours of work: On-call hours will vary based on operational needs.
