Job Description

Heritage Family Services is currently hiring full-time Child and Youth Care Workers for one of our programs in Lacombe, Alberta.

We are looking for compassionate, dependable, and trauma-informed individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and youth in care. The ideal candidate is service-oriented, responsible, organized, and confident in building strong, healthy relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

Build trusting relationships and respect individual identity

Maintain a safe and secure environment for youth following established policies

Support daily routines and youth-centered programming

Assist with meal planning and preparation

Encourage positive self-concept and identity development

Act as an advocate for children and youth, ensuring access to appropriate support services

Provide emotional support and a nurturing environment

Support development of life skills, social learning, self-regulation, and problem-solving skills

Requirements:

Must be 18 years of age or older

Post-secondary education or current enrollment in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field is an asset

Must be able to provide:

Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector

Child Intervention Check

Class 5 Driver's License for 3 or more years in Canada

Clean Driver's Abstract (fewer than 6 demerits)

Understanding and respect for Indigenous traditions and culturally appropriate care

Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds, identities, and experiences

Familiarity with inclusive language, pronouns, and cross-cultural communication

Mandatory Requirements:

If you are selected as the successful candidate, you will be required to provide the following documents as a condition of employment upon receiving the job offer

A Criminal Record Check (with Vulnerable Sector) that is dated within the last 6 months

A Child Intervention Check that is dated within the last 6 months

Proof of eligibility to work in Canada

Class 5 Alberta Government Issued Driver's License for 3 or more years in Canada

A Driver's Abstract that is dated within the last 6 months

Copy of education listed in resume.
