Job Description

Heritage Family Services is currently hiring experienced Child and Youth Care Workers for casual relief positions.
This is a great chance to gain hands-on experience across various programs within the organization, with potential for professional development and internal advancement.

We are seeking individuals who are often described as genuine, compassionate, dependable, well-organized, and outgoing. The ideal candidates will demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to build healthy, supportive relationships with children and youth using a trauma-informed approach.

Key Responsibilities Include:



Building respectful, trusting relationships with youth while honoring their individuality Promoting a safe and structured environment by adhering to protocols, minimizing anxiety, and supporting emotional stability Assisting with daily routines and child/youth-centered activities Participating in meal preparation and daily tasks Encouraging and affirming each youth's self-identity Advocating for youth and ensuring they have access to the Office of the Child and Youth Advocate Providing a nurturing environment that meets the emotional needs of each youth Supporting youth in developing life skills, such as emotional regulation, social problem-solving, and positive thinking

Qualifications & Requirements:



Completion of Grade 12 with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience working with children/youth Post-secondary education (completed or in progress) in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Human Services, or related field is a strong asset Knowledge of and respect for Indigenous cultures and practices Commitment to diversity and inclusion, with understanding of inclusive language and respectful communication across cultures and identities Ability to work effectively with individuals from all backgrounds, including marginalized populations Clear Criminal Record Check, Child Intervention Record Check, and a clean Driver's Abstract are mandatory

Mandatory Requirements:

If you are selected as the successful candidate, you will be required to provide the following documents as a condition of employment upon receiving the job offer

A Criminal Record Check (with Vulnerable Sector) that is dated within the last 6 months

A Child Intervention Check that is dated within the last 6 months

Proof of eligibility to work in Canada

Class 5 Alberta Government Issued Driver's License for 3 or more years in Canada

A Driver's Abstract that is dated within the last 6 months

Copy of education listed in resume.
