The Child Care Driver is responsible for the safe, reliable, and timely transportation of children to and from the child care centre, as well as on scheduled field trips and outings. This position requires a caring and responsible individual who prioritizes child safety, follows all licensing and transportation regulations, and represents the centre in a professional and friendly manner.
Key Responsibilities:
Safely transport children between the child care centre, school, and/or designated field trip locations in a passenger van.
Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the van is in safe operating condition.
Follow all traffic laws, Ministry of Education regulations, and centre transportation policies.
Maintain accurate attendance records for each trip, ensuring all children are accounted for at all times.
Assist children in safely entering and exiting the vehicle; ensure all seat belts and car seats are operating and used properly.
Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle interior and report maintenance issues promptly.
Communicate professionally with parents, staff, and children.
Support staff during outings as needed (e.g., supervision, transitions, or carrying supplies).
Adhere to confidentiality and child protection policies at all times.
Aid with vehicle maintenance by transporting it to regular maintenance appointments, topping up fluids (oil, windshield washing fluid, gas).
Qualifications & Requirements:
Valid Ontario driver's licence (Class G required; Class F preferred).
Clean driver's abstract and clear criminal/vulnerable sector check.
Minimum 3 years of driving experience.
Experience working with children is an asset.
Current First Aid and CPR Level C certification (or willingness to obtain).
Reliable, patient, and safety-conscious with strong communication skills.
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and assist with children's mobility as required.
Hours:
Part-time or split-shift hours depending on route schedule (e.g., morning and afternoon transport times, occasional midday trips).

This position involves direct work with children and requires adherence to all child safety and supervision standards as outlined by the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA).

Pay: $18.50-$22.00 per hour
