Kepler Academy is planning for our future growth! This Centre Director in Training position is a developmental position designed to prepare high potential candidates with child care work experience to become a future Centre Director within Kepler Academy.


The Centre Director in Training will work closely with senior management and departmental leaders to develop a solid foundation in Kepler Academy's values, processes and operational standards. This role requires a strong willingness to learn, the ability to make logical and timely decisions and the capability to adapt to new information


This position requires consistent travel between all Kepler Academy centres across Edmonton and the greater area, including the head office.

What will you do?




Shadow and support Centre Directors to understand daily leadership expectations, responsibilities and the Kepler way. This position will be trained to promote excellence in the delivery of Kepler Academy's core foundation to provide a positive work environment, relevant feedback, communication to employees and families, and plan daily activities.


This position will demonstrate growth in leadership readiness by taking on an increasing level of responsibility throughout the training period, including temporary acting as a Centre Director at an assigned Centre for leave coverage.


Other Training and Responsibilities



Build professional relationships with the support team, educators, and colleagues. Learn the Kepler Academy workflows, operational standards and procedures. Operate in a professional manner and ensure Kepler standards are being met, and compliance is always maintained. Support centres during staff shortage, operational needs, or special situations as required Learn to provide oversight and direction to the employees in the centre in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures. Learn to coach, mentor, and develop staff, including new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities. Consciously create a workplace culture that is consistent with the overall organization's and that emphasizes the identified mission, vision, guiding principles, and values of the organization. Learn to provide effective performance feedback through employee recognition, rewards, and disciplinary action, with the assistance of Human Resources, when necessary. Learn to maintain employee work schedules including training, vacations, and paid time off, coverage for absenteeism, and overtime scheduling. Ensure strong relationships developed with families with regular ongoing communication. Community involvement and interaction to build strong partnerships. Maintain transparent communication. Appropriately communicate organization information through department meetings, one-on-one meetings, email, and regular interpersonal communication. Work with Human Resources Department on recruitment and retention strategy based on licensing requirements and centre needs. Learn to use all relevant software. Assist with documentation, incident reporting, internal audits, month end child care hours report, and centre reporting requirements.

You will posses the following:



Valid Driver's Licence and reliable transportation to commute to all Kepler Academy Centres in Edmonton and the greater area Demonstrated ability to be led, coach and develop Ability to adopt feedback, self-development and demonstrating continual improvement Business Acumen Ability to learn new software programs Proven leadership in promoting a positive workforce environment Strong work ethic Excellent organization and time management skills Excellent written and spoken communication skills Computer literacy: strong skills in Microsoft Office and ability to learn other systems Solid knowledge & understanding of the Provincial Child Care Regulations Business knowledge of basic economics, budgeting, accounting principles and practices is necessary

Qualifications:



A minimum of 3 to 5 years Early Childhood experience in the Childcare industry Previous experience in a management or assistant manager role Post secondary education in a business-related field, or experience with finances and budgeting would be an asset Child Development Certificate issued in the Province of Alberta, Level 3 Standard First Aid Certificate / Level C First Aid Certificate Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check issued within the past 6 months
