Looking for an experienced, responsible Childcare Assistant to join our amazing team of educators.

The successful candidate will assist the Early Childhood Educators (ECEs) in the classroom by providing high quality early learning and childcare. This includes assisting in directing and assessing the positive emotional, physical, social and cognitive development of children by implementing appropriate activities and programs according to each child's individual developmental abilities, needs, and interests.

Education & Training Required:



-High school education or equivalent preferred

-Must have completed or be willing to enroll in recognized 40 Hour program of studies as required by the Province of Manitoba

-Must be certified or willing to enroll in First Aid/CPR Level C

-Circle of Security Training would be an asset

-Experience working in a previous child care centre

Position is for a school age female child.

3 hours a day from May and June.

Full time hours for July and August (8 hours a day 5 days a week)

3 hours a day and 8 hours on PD day

Responsibilities:



Health and Safety



Implementing Health and Safety Policies and Procedures, while complying with Fire and Health regulations including fire drills, evacuation plans and use of extinguishers Familiar with Our Code of Conduct and Safety Enhancement Plan Ensure toys and equipment are maintained and safe, indoors, and outdoors Report incidents and injuries to management, while ensuring documenting and reporting are being done effectively Implementation of Best Practices Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of all program equipment Understanding of Child Abuse protocols, infectious diseases guidelines and Workplace Health and Safety procedures Perform house cleaning duties as necessary Familiar with children URIS plans Ensure the centre is clean and debris free Ensure proper hygiene is being followed in the areas of diapering, toileting, eating and napping

Maintaining strong relationships with families, colleagues, and other professionals Ensuring a positive and gossip free work environment Remain highly professional when handling delicate or sensitive situations Maintain confidentiality Demonstrate and maintain Ethical behavior's Work with educational institutions to achieve common goals Comfortable speaking with parents on sensitive subjects while maintaining understanding and empathy Attend staff meetings and contribute to them to enhance the center as needed Maintain appropriate work habits such as punctuality and regular attendance

Program



Implementing an enriching age-appropriate program Adapting the program for children with additional needs Ensuring all our Best Practices are being followed and implemented Ensure communication takes place with management when supplies, material and equipment are needed Ensure attendance of children is being done regularly and effectively Implementing a program that meets the emotional, physical, social, and cognitive development of the children to the best of their abilities Ensure the posted daily schedule is being implemented while adjusting to better meet the children's needs when required Display a nurturing and empathetic tone while acknowledging children's accomplishments and challenges Communicating with management when concerning behaviors arise Ensuring any Inclusion Support Program is being followed through based on the set out goals and needs of the child Implementation of Best Practices Be flexible working different shifts when needed Ensure programming is being posted and displayed on platforms used by the center or within the center
Our centre closes down for two professional development days a year to help staff gain new insight and knowledge that will support them working in this field.
