Durham Association for Family Resources and Support (DFR) is seeking 2 full-time

Child and Youth Workers.

You will be responsible for working with young families, on an individual basis, to provide support and enjoyment during the summer.

The Family Support Team is currently seeking three Child and Youth Workers. The position focuses on providing meaningful summer experiences for children/youth and their families. The Child and Youth Worker will support one family at a time focusing on the child's interests, talents, strengths, and gifts. Families along with DFR staff and the Child and Youth Worker will develop a plan for the summer that includes role development, leisure, recreation, and other duties that are deemed helpful to the family. The Child and Youth Worker will remain focused on creating opportunities for the child/youth that foster connection and potential friendship.

The ideal candidate will possess and/or demonstrate:



Broad variety of leisure interests, music, dance, play, reading, outdoor recreation activities Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of punctuality, listening, positive energy, importance of family and knowledge of the local community. Ability to work on a team. Provide a clear vulnerable sector check on the 1st day of employment.

General Responsibilities:



Working with families on a custom, individual basis Participating in a flexible visit schedule with families Journaling the experience with families

Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
The youth must be 15 years of age at the beginning of the employment period. The youth may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as the youth was 30 at the beginning of the employment period.
