Child and Youth Worker (1.0 FTE)

Major Duties and Responsibilities:





The successful candidate will provide direct services and/or consultation to students, staff, and families. This individual will deliver evidence based social emotional, behavioural, and mental health interventions and programs, to individuals, groups, classrooms, and students who are on long term suspension or expulsion. They will also assist in re-entry plans and develop support plans for students that have been negatively impacted by student behaviour. The candidate will also respond, collaborate, and support crises and traumatic situations. This individual would also provide professional learning to staff and families.

In addition, the individual will follow Grand Erie procedures and practices related to, but not limited to, case management, informed consent, confidentiality, record keeping, and report writing and perform other duties as assigned.



Minimum Qualifications:


Minimum Child & Youth Worker Diploma is required Verification of post-secondary education (diploma/degree or original transcript) will be required An understanding of evidence-based prevention and intervention approaches for supporting children and youth who struggle with self-regulation and social skills, as well as mental health An understanding of risk assessment Is preferred Knowledge of social-emotional learning and the ability to deliver programs in individual, group and classroom settings is preferred Knowledge of evidence-based practices to support crises and traumatic events is preferred Knowledge of local community resources is preferred Experience with school-aged students in an educational setting is preferred Experience with students having special education needs is preferred Ability to work as a member of a school and multi-disciplinary team is preferred Ability to communicate effectively is required Reliable vehicle and valid driver's license is required Must be proficient in the use of computers

Hours of Work

7 hours per day/35 hours per week for 1.0 FTE


Rate of Pay

Hiring Range $47,798 to $54,155 starting annual salary

Salary Range $47,798 to $57,333 annual salary
