This position is for both weekdays and weekend shifts comprising of both day and night. You can apply for either week days or weekend day ( 9am to 9pm shift) or weekend night (9pm to 9am) shift. Kindly specify in your application.

The Child & Youth Care Worker is a key member of the interdisciplinary team which assesses, plans, implements and evaluates service plans for a given client. Employees with this designation perform front-line work in the program and carry the responsibility for the daily care, nurturance, supervision, and health of the clients. The role is extensive and carries with it responsibilities in the counseling, teaching and training areas, as well as recording and reporting. The Child & Youth Care Worker must demonstrate high personal competence in the formation and maintenance of caring, therapeutic relationships. The Child & Youth Care Worker is accountable to the Team Lead and/or the Director(s)

Responsibilities:


- Provide a safe and nurturing environment for children and youths- Plan and implement age-appropriate activities and programs to meet recreational, educational and therapeutic goals- Supervise children during playtime, meals, and naptime- Maintain a clean and organized environment- Day-to-day service delivery components including, but not limited to cleaning, meal preparation, shopping, medication administration, documentation within established time frames, accompanying to wellness related appointments, transportation (if qualified);

Skills:


- Experience with children and family programming, youth in care, residential care, and case- Ability to educate and engage children through creative activities- Counselling skills that utilize problem-solving, de-escalation, goal-setting and preventative interventions with clients in either a 1:1 or group scenario- Patience and compassion to handle challenging behaviors or situations- Organizational skills to plan and implement daily routines and activities

Education & Qualifications:

- Certificate/Diploma/Degree in Human Services is a must.
- A minimum of two (2) years related experience (youth programming, group homes, supported independent living, residential living, daycare, out of school care, etc.) is required.

-Standard First Aid and CPR certification

Certification or training in Aboriginal Awareness, Abuse Awareness, Medication Administration, and Violence/Crisis Intervention is a definite asset. Successful candidates must be ready to undertake these trainings upon hire.
