About the Role

We are hiring

Relief Child and Youth Care Practitioners

to support shelters, group homes, and community programs across

York Region

. You will support youth experiencing homelessness, instability, trauma, and complex needs by providing supervision, structure, life-skills coaching, and consistent, trauma-informed care.

Responsibilities

Supervise and engage youth in shelter/day program settings Assist with daily routines and life-skills development Respond to behavioral and emotional needs using trauma-informed approaches Participate in recreation and community activities Complete daily logs, incident reports, and medication documentation Support medication routines (witnessing/documenting) Maintain a clean and safe environment Accompany youth to appointments as needed Follow agency, Ministry, and Health & Safety policies

Qualifications

Diploma/degree in Child & Youth Care, Social Services, Psychology, or related field Experience supporting youth with behavioral, mental health, developmental, or Autism-related needs Experience in group home, shelter, or residential settings

Valid CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification

Vulnerable Sector Police Check (or willingness to obtain) Standard First Aid & CPR-C Up-to-date immunizations Strong English communication and documentation skills Able to participate in indoor/outdoor activities Fully vaccinated (2-dose COVID-19 requirement)

Job Type

Casual / Part-Time (Relief)

Shifts: 8-hr, 10-hr, or 12-hr; days, evenings, overnights; weekends; on-call.
