Super Kids Camp Program Counsellor

! We are seeking energetic, enthusiastic individuals to facilitate fun, engaging, and safe activities for youth ages 8-12 in the High Park area.

About the Program

This evening program is designed to provide a safe and positive recreational environment. Activities will include a blend of classic camp games, team-building exercises, and introductory racquet sports, with a focus on

recreational pickleball

. The program is geared towards giving children a chance to be active, socialize, and learn basic rules and skills in a fun and friendly setting.

No advanced sports certification (e.g., NCCP Tennis or Pickleball) is required.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Program Leadership:

Lead and facilitate a variety of recreational and social activities, including arts and crafts, group games, and introductory sports (e.g., simplified pickleball, balloon volleyball, frisbee).

Activity Planning:

Organize and execute daily and weekly lesson/activity plans suitable for the 8-12 age group.

Supervision & Safety:

Ensure the

active supervision

of all children, maintaining a safe and respectful environment at all times.

Equipment & Facility:

Assist with the setup, cleanup, and basic safety checks of program equipment (e.g., nets, balls, racquets) and the facility area.

Communication:

Maintain a positive relationship with participants, parents, and co-workers.

First Aid:

Respond effectively to minor injuries and incidents, documenting them as required.

Qualifications and Requirements

Experience:

Prior experience working with children (ages 8-12) in a camp, recreational, school, or childcare setting is required.

Knowledge:

Demonstrable enthusiasm for leading group activities and an interest in introductory sports and games. Basic knowledge of

pickleball rules and equipment

is an asset but

not mandatory

.

Certification (Required):

A

valid Level 1 First Aid certification

(e.g., Standard First Aid).

Availability:

Must be available for evening shifts.
Note: A Police Information Check (PIC) will be required for this position.

Pay Rate and Schedule

Pay Rate:

$18.00 - $20.00 per hour (Based on experience).

Schedule:

This is a contract position with hours based on program registration. Lessons are primarily scheduled on

weekday evenings

(e.g., 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM).
