Child and Family Worker (SNAP CFW)


Key Assets SNAP Program


Full Time Position



Stop Now and Plan (SNAP) is an evidence-based program designed to build emotional regulation and self-control for children 6-11 and their families. SNAP is seeking an energetic Child and Family Worker (SNAP CFW) to join our dynamic team. The position requires an ability to develop therapeutic relationships with and between children and their caregivers. SNAP CFW's facilitate SNAP groups as well as provide individual support and in-home family activities. SNAP CFW's are also involved in maintaining relationships with our community partners, coordinating services, and advocating for our families. The incumbent needs to be team oriented, creative, and adaptable.

A SNAP Child and Family Worker has an interest in and understanding of supporting children ages 6-11 with challenging behaviors. Applicants are interested in cognitive behavior theory, gender sensitive approaches and trauma-informed practices to working with children and families. SNAP CFW's understand the complexities of family life and can work collaboratively with families to develop a service plan to respond to individual strengths and needs.

Primary responsibilities:


Include but are not limited to:

Accepts and works within the framework of Key Assets stated vision, mission, values, and goals. Conducts screening and SNAP services in family's homes, Key Assets offices, or the community. Facilitates SNAP caregiver groups and children's groups as well as summer programming activities. Completes designated reports and collects data according to recording guidelines. Liaises with child protection, schools, and other agencies; may assist in supervising project volunteers. Works flexible hours related to scheduled groups and the needs of families;

regular evening work is required*.
Assumes other such responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.

Required Qualifications:



A minimum of 2-years' experience in a non-parental role providing support, mentorship, coaching, teaching, or guidance to young people with challenging behaviors or 2 years work and/or volunteer experience. Demonstrated ability to work therapeutically with children and their families with an ability to work on a multi-disciplinary team. Understanding of family functioning and group dynamics, trauma-informed practices, behavior management techniques, and excellent communication skills Current, or willingness to obtain, Standard First Aid/CPR certification (training to be provided). Willingness to obtain crisis intervention training certifications (TCI, ASIST, and UMAB training will be provided to successful applicants by Key Assets NL). Willingness to complete Standard First Aid/CR certification.

Additional Qualifications:



The following qualifications, while not a requirement, will be considered assets in the applicant selection process:

A diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care or a related discipline. A valid Driver's License and clear drivers abstract. Access to a personal vehicle and $2 Million Business Liability (or willingness to obtain). Experience as a foster parent

Clear Certificate of Conduct, Vulnerable Sector Check from RNC/RCMP Clear Child Protection record check. Valid proof of Canadian Residency 3 references from a former employer(s)

Competitive salary, commensurate with education and experience (range from $51,168 to $63,765) plus Labrador Living Allowance.
